I was on Lake Arlington yesterday and it is appalling the amount of floating garbage on that lake. I have never seen that much [censored] even when a lake has come up 10 feet in depth. My home lake is Lewisville and it's nice and clean compared to that toilet.

Marine creek isn't much better Actually the west side of Lake Arlington is a former trash dump in the back of the cove going into the discharge And the west end up above Village Creek is a constant illegal dump I'd have to follow those up with upper Lake Worth, And anywhere there is bank fishing access

I grew up fishing village creek. For a few years there were sewer manholes overflowing into the creek and into the lake. I think that's fixed now. But the landfill was put on the creek after that. Id say Arlington lake is pretty disgusting. Hope the city of Arlingtons not drinking that water

Lake Houston. Went there a month ago to try my hand with catfish. Nasty but faint smell on the bank. Trash ring around 15ft of the windblown banks. Caught 13 fish(12 channels, 1 yellow) and didn't keep a single one. Never seen as ugly fish as I caught that day. Not to mention I could only fish within eyesight of my truck because of some shady hand liners. Never had such a terrible experience catching fish.

Agree that Arlington is pathetic above water level. However, Twok might take the prize for trash underwater. Only place I've caught a lawn chair and a broken shovel in the same day.

Not lakes, but I know what yall feel:
Buffalo Run Park Ponds in Missouri City: Lots of trash within the forested areas of the bank. I would see cat-size rats go through it in the evenings.
Buffalo Bayou at Bush Park (though its gotten much better now): Trash along the banks. I would run into a patch of dead shad on the banks (unforgiving stench) from someone using a castnet. The least they could do with the unused shad is throw it into the bayou so the gars can feast on it.

Of course you know that it is stained by iron deposits in the water. As far as trash goes, the "Gentle Giant" is pristine compared to some of our local liquid landfills. And man! Them are some big ol' barn-door slab crappies that make their way up Coal Creek to the spillway of McAlester City lake after a big rain!.

Well good thing the cities and other government entities are taking advantage of this drought and getting out there and cleaning that garbage up! I love the idea of using volunteers and jail inmates to gather it up. And I think it's great how they are going into lakes like Lavon with those earth movers and removing a bunch of the silt that clogs up the East Fork and creeks like Sister Grove and Wilson...It'll open them back up again and think of all the extra storage capacity they will have displacing the silt with water...and then I woke up.

Well, not in Texas, but lake Elsinore in SOCAL. It was years ago, but it looked like a septic tank, almost. I remember scraping the bottom of my new Cajun on a metal fence post. I also saw a huge goldfish (he wouldn't bite).

Carter's Lake in Georgia is normally very clean and pristine, but after a big storm one year there was trash everywhere. Now the Army Corps of Engineers always hosts a volunteer day to clean a couple times/year. There were dead chickens in boxes, big propane tanks, and all kinds of trash in the water after that storm.

North end of Lake worth is nasty and further up river behind eagle mountain(Vance's camp) is disgusting. Such a waste. Some big fish used to be caught at Vance's years back. It has gotten dirtier & less fish every year for probably 20 years or so.

Lake Calaveras has got to be the Nastiest, Dirtiest, Slimiest lake out there, but it has a ton of fish in it. I was going to say Cal or Braunig. Both are nasty especially the shoreline around the park. Not near as bad as it was but still bad. But awesome fishing.

No a lake but i paddled the trinity and damn! What a dump. Paddled over countless cars probably all contaned dead bodies. I grew up on lake superior in upper michigan and talk about clear. Sad how people just throw their trash all over the place. I think all the people who dont work and get gov benifits should clean the water ways 3 days a week. I bring a big black trash bag with me every time we go fishing...to pick up everyone elses trash. We all should do this.

My vote would have to be Jordan Lake in NC. Two main river feeds to this lake run through Durham & another river through Raleigh. They had a clean up day last summer and filled a couple of tractor trailers. Easy to tell after a rain this is basketball and soccer country, also lots of tires many still on the rims, lawn chairs, coolers, .....
Beautiful lake with the Bald Eagles & Osprey's ---- other than all the trash on the banks. Think they need a catch basin (small lake) above the lake on each river to collect the trash before it reaches the main lake.

It's sad of all the garbage everywhere . It doesn't grow on trees . I hate trash. Before they closed Island View on Texoma we use to camp there a lot. Nice sandy beach and it was fairly clean considering. A coupld of families that lived up the hill would come down and swim during the day. When they left they left used diapers and other trash on the beach. I was appalled that people who lived on the lake would do this. I almost bagged it all up and dumped it on their porch. We did bag it and take it. Rowlett creek is the trashy place I have seen on a lake but I do not fish it.

I've often wondered where are all the aluminum can collectors as I look along the rip rap anywhere on that lake. You could fill several dump trucks with the empty beer and soda cans along the shoreline.

Village Creek. Went canoe camping/fishing there in the 80s. Just when you're mesmerized into pretending you're alone, you'll see another trash dump or dirty diapers on the bank and even floating down the stream. Makes me ashamed to be a Texan..as do Lake Arlington and Lake Houston as already mentioned.

Lake Arlington on the west side as mentioned, which is on the Ft.Worth side by the way. Its a total dump all along the banks and no telling how much is under water.Seems like the City of Ft.Worth and Arlington would get together and clean it up because Arlington does use the lake for drinking water. It would take several large dumpster loads and alot of $$$$ to haul it off but still, there is no telling what kind of chemicals could be in those containers that are dumped in there.

The city of Arlington does host clean up days where volunteers pick up as much trash as they can haul in a day. Anyone here volunteered? Check out the city of Arlington's website for the next one.
