Funny, I noticed that any time someone mentions trashy lakes, Arlington comes up. Trashiest in the state?

Of course you know that it is stained by iron deposits in the water. As far as trash goes, the "Gentle Giant" is pristine compared to some of our local liquid landfills. And man! Them are some big ol' barn-door slab crappies that make their way up Coal Creek to the spillway of McAlester City lake after a big rain!.

Well good thing the cities and other government entities are taking advantage of this drought and getting out there and cleaning that garbage up! I love the idea of using volunteers and jail inmates to gather it up. And I think it's great how they are going into lakes like Lavon with those earth movers and removing a bunch of the silt that clogs up the East Fork and creeks like Sister Grove and Wilson...It'll open them back up again and think of all the extra storage capacity they will have displacing the silt with water...and then I woke up.

Well, not in Texas, but lake Elsinore in SOCAL. It was years ago, but it looked like a septic tank, almost. I remember scraping the bottom of my new Cajun on a metal fence post. I also saw a huge goldfish (he wouldn't bite).

Lake Calaveras has got to be the Nastiest, Dirtiest, Slimiest lake out there, but it has a ton of fish in it.

Carter's Lake in Georgia is normally very clean and pristine, but after a big storm one year there was trash everywhere. Now the Army Corps of Engineers always hosts a volunteer day to clean a couple times/year. There were dead chickens in boxes, big propane tanks, and all kinds of trash in the water after that storm.

North end of Lake worth is nasty and further up river behind eagle mountain(Vance's camp) is disgusting. Such a waste. Some big fish used to be caught at Vance's years back. It has gotten dirtier & less fish every year for probably 20 years or so.

I stopped by RedBluff res. once and it smelled of death also had a really nice trailer park resort to match the odor...
There was not a lot of garbage, but the nastiest smell ever.

Lake Calaveras has got to be the Nastiest, Dirtiest, Slimiest lake out there, but it has a ton of fish in it. I was going to say Cal or Braunig. Both are nasty especially the shoreline around the park. Not near as bad as it was but still bad. But awesome fishing.

No a lake but i paddled the trinity and damn! What a dump. Paddled over countless cars probably all contaned dead bodies. I grew up on lake superior in upper michigan and talk about clear. Sad how people just throw their trash all over the place. I think all the people who dont work and get gov benifits should clean the water ways 3 days a week. I bring a big black trash bag with me every time we go fishing...to pick up everyone elses trash. We all should do this.

I love catching reds on the crappie wall, but Calaveras is one of the dirtiest lakes I have fished.

My vote would have to be Jordan Lake in NC. Two main river feeds to this lake run through Durham & another river through Raleigh. They had a clean up day last summer and filled a couple of tractor trailers. Easy to tell after a rain this is basketball and soccer country, also lots of tires many still on the rims, lawn chairs, coolers, .....
Beautiful lake with the Bald Eagles & Osprey's ---- other than all the trash on the banks. Think they need a catch basin (small lake) above the lake on each river to collect the trash before it reaches the main lake.

It's sad of all the garbage everywhere . It doesn't grow on trees . I hate trash. Before they closed Island View on Texoma we use to camp there a lot. Nice sandy beach and it was fairly clean considering. A coupld of families that lived up the hill would come down and swim during the day. When they left they left used diapers and other trash on the beach. I was appalled that people who lived on the lake would do this. I almost bagged it all up and dumped it on their porch. We did bag it and take it. Rowlett creek is the trashy place I have seen on a lake but I do not fish it.
