Are you going to drift out of the side or the back of the boat, just throw out the drift sock and tie it to where your boat is pointed in the direction you want, I have to put a sock up towards the front of the boat, but sometimes I have to use 3 of them to keep the boat slow enough dependiing on the wind speed!!!

in high winds its much easier to drift out of the back because you can then use fewer drift socks in a light wind drift out of the side if you can handle the sideways rocking

Mine is an 89. I stole your idea for rod holeders to. Those were a great design Can't take credit. DDR gave me the design. But I love them.

I drift out the side. 2 socks usually. One in from of each seat basically. If I have a real slow wind, I just put one sock out the center, and that usually works ok.

Have you bought one or are you going to make one? Basics are the same put sock/chute out of the side of the boat usally close to the center of the boat.Throw your lines out on the same side of the boat as the drift sock. I personally use a Sante Copper rig ,and shad as bait. Try to set your drifts over creek/river beds, humps, and points. This usally is a good way to locate fish if you are not great with graphs. If you are marking alot of bait that is busted up with fish (or you get take downs on your rods )you might want to stop and anchor up on them.

if drifting out the back use the 2 rear cleats and find the center point of your rope and attach the drift sock there

I usually let out 5-6ft. That usually puts it low enough that my lines don't get stuck in it when I reel in.

I think they both have 25 ft on them. I don't remember the size, but I want to say academy calls them the medium size drift sock.
I'm not sure how much line other guys let out, that's just what I do.

If you are drifting out of the side just build and use a drift chute. Pretty easy to make and you can get the shade material at home depot or lowes in the garden section. All you need besides that is a semi heavy pole to ziptie the material around and a couple golf balls/rope and you are set. http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/5267182/How_To_Build_Your_Own_Drift_Ch

Tie you sock off real well. I have left one in Lewisville and one in Grapevine. So if any of you guys snag one while drifting you can thank me later.
I tie mine off to the front cleat of my boat to offset the drag of the outdrive in the water this will hold your boat sideways more evenly. If it is windy I may tie another off in the middle. I let out 3-5 ft of rope. Just enough so it opens. I use 36 in socks. My boat is pretty heavy though. Smaller boat you might could use a 30 in. Academy has the best price on those.
If you drift out the back you can tie a rope from each of the 2 tiedown eyelets you have on the back of your boat with enough slack to go over your motor and tie the rope to you sock in the middle. If you use 2 socks just tie one to each of your rear cleats.
I prefer to drift out of the side. You can drift more rods.
Always watch the wind reports so you stay safe in your Cajun. That is a good boat but not built for big water. Be safe out there and go catch a big one.

When you have enough wind that you no longer feel safe you should tie the drift sock off the front. Your boat can better handle the waves at the bow and you will have a more comfortable drift.

+1 When there is not enough wind or sometimes with wind I will do a power drift out of the back of the boat using a engine mounted trolling motor works well you can go over what you want I like to target rail roads creek and river chanels and humps and road beds.Keep your speed at .4 or below.. The chute works well because you can control your speed by loosening the rope you run under the boat the closer you pull it in the slower you go.I had a 15 ft trihull I could almost bring it to a stop in a good wind
