What information must a bill of sale have in order to transfer ownership on a lost title? Thanks.

I heard you need the original owner file for lost title not you. A bill of sale without a title is worthless IMO.

The original owner must file for a lost title and have it in hand before he can transfer the boat to you. A bill of sale means absolutely nothing to TPWD. Do not give the owner money until you see the title.

I had so much trouble trying to sell a boat and get the guy a title, I met him at TPW and had the lady there tell us what we had to do. Bill of sale didn't do anything for him or me. Took a day off, met the guy at TPW and filled out the forms they wanted. Had to get my 93 yo mother out to get papers notarized at the bank.

I suppose there is a good reason for all that, but I think it is just to fuel bureaucracy. TPWD is always whining about the budget. They waste a lot of money.

And offer nothing in return. If you want to see how State Parks should be run, go take a look at any of them in Arkansas.
