Saw this at the pond this morning. That is a 6.5' rod. Any idea what type of snake? Guessing Diamondback Water Snake?

Note: I did not kill it, just found the remains at the edge of the pond...

I hadn't seen any out there in a couple months, but they have been clearing brush around the pond, so that probably flushed it out..

I'm not trying to start a debate, but there is practically no taper to that tail which would almost make me think that's a water moccasin. Been me, I woulda pried his mouth open and looked for fangs.

Upon closer look, that just one fat arse banded water snake. Harmless.

If by type you mean species, it is Nerodia rhombifer also referred to as a diamond-backed water snake.
