If the model is older than 2000,it will last you the rest of your life. After 2000,its just another cheap reel.

Zebco 33 is what I grew up on and caught ALOT of fish on but this was all pre 2000. i have heard the new ones are junk but if you got yourself an older one you should be good to go!

Also wanted to say that looks exactly like the ones I grew up with so Id say you got yourself a good one.

I actuall went back and bought another one from the guy. Its was on a little 5'5" crappie pole but for $6 you cnat go wrong. This one had 1989 printed on it. Anyone got a 6' or so heavier rod for sale under $20?

Last time I checked, Academy had some Tournament Choice Premier Graphite rods (reg $24.99) on clearance for $8. Various lenghths and have them in both spinning and casting versions.

I still have some early 80's model 33's from my childhood as well as some 60's and 70's models my great uncle left me. When I take my dad fishing, it's all he'll use in a boat full of 3-500 dollar combo's. He throws them with a split shot weight, an eagle claw hook, and a purple worm from wally world and catches bass with the best of them lol.

That's the third time this week I have seen you post that exact same thing.

One time you said it to me...

The coloring looks like one of my early 80's models but they don't have the texturing on the thumb release or crank. Of course I used them religiously when I was a kid and I guess I could have actually worn it smooth. It's in great shape if it's one of those years though.

I owned one in 1958. Great reel. I think they came out in the mid 50's.
