my motor has a lean sneeze and from the schematic online and looking at my carbs the pilot screw is behind a brass plug what is the best way to remove this plug and does it need to be replaced after the adjustment is made. thanks in advance for all the replies.

It is covered so you cannot adjust the air/fuel mix screw. I would be looking at item #24. That is the feed for the idle in that carb. If it's sneezing, most likely that jet is plugged. I would look at that 1st prior to removing and upseting the factory settings on the air/fuel screw.
