Fished RC yesterday with some new customers. They were originally scheduled for today (Friday), but due to the front coming thru we switched days to the perfect conditions we had yesterday (glad they could do that).
There were more boats on the lake than I've seen since summer. The lake has come up almost a foot. The cat fishermen did really well with bunches of 3 to 5 ponders, with the big being a big female 40 inches (about 40lbs). Drifting was out of the question (no wind) for Big Blues so they stayed anchored on points in 25 feet of water and made a good day of it.
The Hybrids and White Bass were good on the humps and points. The Windsock had quite a few boats on it (I’m sure catching fish) but stayed away from that. Of course dead sticking was the ticket – using either slabs with jig on top or flukes/bass assassins.
We stayed with the 1 1/2oz slabs but if you’re having trouble getting them to hit it or your missing more than you think you should – switch to smaller baits (and a smaller fluke too).
Caught some really big Hybrid Yellows and some nice Hybrids with limits plus on the White Bass.
Merry Christmas,
