I went out to the park this morning at 8 AM and froze my ears off without a bite. About 9:30 AM I went home and warmed up. I got back to the park about 2 PM when it was much warmer. I caught these 5 from 3 to 5 PM.. One was 12 inches, 3 were 11 inches and one was 9 inches. All in all a good day.

Awesome. I was there for a short time today. Didn't catch nothing today. My kids couldn't keep the poles in the water long enough!!

I went back to the pond this afternoon at 2 PM. I hung a monster on the first cast and he broke my hook when I tried to net him. It broke my heart. It was easily the biggest I have hung this season.

But I bucked up and caught another limit today. They were nice sized trout but that big one would have really helped the stringer.

I have an indoor electric grill built into the kitchen work surface. It does a nice job on trout. I just gut them and lay them on the grill. I serve them with veggies, usually peas and carrots.

You can grill them, they will cook fast.
I also rub them inside and out with a little oil, sprinkle with lemon pepper, and smoke them.

The biggest trout was 13 inches. I caught them all on rainbow Berkley power bait.

No place in Weatherford sells the bait. Walmart here has pulled the fishing stuff for the winter, and left only a few items. Academy in City View had Trout Power Bait last year. I ordered mine on line. It is cheaper to pay postage than drive to Fort Worth.

It is not the bait but the technique. I plan a blog on how to catch trout soon.

The next stocking is January 6 in Trinity Park. It is a TPWD stocking so the trout will be small. Even the little ones are fun to catch and tasty to eat.

Who stocked Holland Lake?

Just Googled it. Seems the city did it. Good to hear.

The City of Weatherford Parks and Rec Dept stocked the lake on Dec 6, 2011. If it goes over well which it has so far we will stock it more often next season. We tried to put bigger size on average fish in there from what the TPWD stocks. There is some small ones, but there is also some really nice ones. If you have any feedback on how to improve the new program send me a e-mail at dreichelt@weatherfordtx.gov I am always looking for feedback.I am glad to see everyone enjoying the fishing out there. Also please note this is a "CFL" Community fishing lake classified under TPWD there is a two pole limit per person. I have seen several people using up to 8 poles between two fisherman.

I took my friend and his granddaughter fishing today. It has been over 3 weeks since the stocking and there are still trout. We caught two by the tried and true teaching method of setting the hook and handing the rod to the granddaughter. She landed both trout. One was a 9 inch trout that was dwarfed by the other one which measured 18 inches and weighed 1.64 pounds. It was the biggest trout I have seen come out of the stocked ponds this year.

Here is the stocking schedule.

I see a pond in Austin, and a couple in Georgetown. I do not see any in Round Rock.
