Have a 2008 5.7 TRD double Cab. 73,000 miles, no problems. Pulls great, stops loaded truck and trailers very good. Oversize tires. Milage is 17-18 highway, 15 city.

Have an 07 with 120K. Bought it used with 25K. I have owned em all and this truck is by far the best truck I have ever had. Not one single problem, yet (knock on wood). Got the 5.7 and it flat out RUNS its a$$ off. Pulls 21 foot boat with ease and still gets 11 mpg at 60 mph. Gets 17 18 HWY at 65mph. 70-75 and it drops to 15-16 mpg. Would buy another in a heartbeat. Only thing I dont like about the truck is that your vision is limited in a lot of spots, and I definitely need a camera on the tailgate.

From what I understand air filter will help with power but do little to nothing for MPGs. You have to watch what the manufacturers claim. They will always spin things to up sales.

2011 TRD double cab with 4.6. 20 mpg on highway empty. Love it. It pulls my 20' boat/tandem axle trailer like it is not even there.

I have an 07 w/the 5.7, just turned 90k miles. Only thing that had to be replaced was a leaky water pump. It gets just over 18 on the highway. The 6-speed transmission is great, I would get another one, but probably with the 4.6 next time. The brakes are great.

I have a 2006, best truck that I have ever had. When I pull my boat I do not even know it is back there.

Would like to know the good, the bad & the ugly on these trucks, especially how bad the ugly can get. For comparison, I've owned my Explorer for 7-1/2 years and have had NO major repairs needed. Kept up on the routine maintenance and had to replace items that wear out once in awhile. Only one factory recall.

Have browsed threads for 'Tundra' and it sure looks like you guys love those trucks, but would like a bit of reassurance before committing to a car loan ... we've been debt-free on vehicles for over three years now, so this is kinda major to me.

Thanks all!

My son absolutely loves his with only one complaint, which is the same as all Tundra owners....Terrible gas mileage....

Just bought an '08 5.7L Crew Cab on 12/31/11. Traded my '01 Silverado that had 180K on it. I love the truck! I put a Tono Pro cover on it and it seems like I am getting better gas milage. Haven't had a whole lot of time to really get a good idea. My recent trip to Round Rock I got 17.8 MPG and I am getting 15.2 MPG in the city. Love the handling, the room and as far as towing, it does great with all that power.

That would be the absolute best mileage I've ever heard out of a v-8 Tundra.

'11 Tundra TRD , Double Cab w/ the 4.8L

Done enough towing to know that i love the truck. Sometimes i wonder if i shouldve gone with the 5.7 L engine, because i'm draggin a heavy boat... but i still get 11mpg towing, and 20mpg when i'm not.

The ride is comfortable, road noise is low, and love how the truck handles.

I got a '12 TRD crew max a couple of weeks ago. It had 11 miles on it when I left the dealership. I averaged 16.7 on the way home (San Marcos to Corsicana) and 17.1 from Corsicana to Corpus Christi. It's dropped off to about 15 since I've been running around Corpus for the last week.

If I want better fuel mileage, I'll drive my wife's Equinox to/from work and she can drive the truck.
