trying to figure out the measurements on gas shocks before i drill i want to make sure my lids will open and stay closed do i just bolt one end and start closing lid till it starts touching other side please help thanks james painter

zuma, take the measurements of the strut extended and compressed. Use a couple of pieces of electrical tape to mark potential locations, and compare the compressed and extended positions of the lid. The lid should be vertical with the strut extended, and with the lid down, the distance between the mounts should be slightly more than the compressed length of the strut. You may have to move the tape around a little to get the ideal location.
