I was there this past August and it was extremely low. I heard the level is still very low and the lake still needs lots more rain. The lake level has come up a little since we have been getting some rain. I have also heard that finding a place to put in a boat is hard right now. As for fishing I have not seen or heard of any recent reports.

We have had success in the past throwing big cranks shallow to deep, rockpiles were good.

Lake is extremely low. Can still put in at Edgewater. The Hybrids/Stripers and whites have been on fire lately. We tore them up last weekend in 25-30 feet on slabs.

It looks like I'm taking my son on his first Cub Scout camping trip at Inks Lake (off Buchanan) in the state park. Is it worth trying Inks Lake, or should we try to find somewhere to launch at Buchanan?

I just looked at the lake level, and it lists Inks Lake as 0.28 feet above full pool.

Are there good spots to fish from a boat at Inks?

Buchanan is 32 feet low, Ive been catching some north of Rocky Point on Bomber squarebills and brush-hogs up to 7 1/2 pounds around any rock-pile or point you can find. On Inks the boat houses on the right going toward the 29 bridge have been good with kvd 1.5 and yum-dingers. Also coves north of the bridge can be good with the same lures. The only timber on the lake is the last cove on the left before running off the dam.

What are you wanting to catch? Inks can be a tough lake to fish especially for stripers and whites.

Before 911 you get get right next to all the dams. Not anymore. When they are releasing Inks can turn on.
