After 5 years of buying Denatured alcohol for the burner, thanks to a suggestion from Redman I finally tried the Isopropyl or "rubbing alcohol" for the burner....

Instead of $6.00 per pint, its down to $1.00 per.. from the dollar store.. thumb

Where did you get the Burner? I've always used one of those long nose lighters, but would rather try the burner.

Alcohol Burner

I just ordered this one Alcohol Burner yesterday. I'm not tying yet but I am painting some jigheads. Thanks for the tip.

Roger, let me know how the iso burns in the burner. I have researched a bit... seem to come across this a bit:

Usually sold in 70% and 91% (or sometimes even 99%) concentrations by volume, neither is a very good stove fuel. The 70% concentration, in fact, hardly burns at all, while the 90%+ concentrations will generally work, but with a sooty flame .

The iso flame looked good..I dont know if it was just late night painting or if it was the alcohol, but it seemed to burn quite a bit hotter that the denatured..I had a couple heads looked a little burned, not from soot, but looked like the paint was burned.
