I'm sick and tired of buying pork, chicken, etc. with water injected. I'm in Arlington, anyone know of quality meat market with reasonable prices? Thinking of heading down to Fiesta to see what they have. Jeez, can't even get a bone in pork chop at some stores.

Also; if you are close and do the thing where you buy half an animal (or quarter) and looking for someone to buy in with you let me know, I may have interest.

Doubt you will find the quality meat products you are looking for at Fiesta, I'm sure it's injected as well. They do have very, very good preseasoned fajita beef, chicken and pork though (which is about all I have bought from them). Most of the other meats I have seen there seemed to be below par, very fatty, but reasonably priced. I did buy a family pack of country style pork ribs once when they were .99 per lb. The top few were pretty nice looking but they got progressively worse (fattier) as I got to the bottom of the package. Still worked out okay as a lot of the fat is rendered out while grilling.

I've seen that trick at other grocery stores as well where the good stuff is on top but when you open the package the crud is just underneath.

Guess I may have to start raising chickens, shoot wild boar and rustle a cow twice a year to hang in my garage.

Chicken labeled "natural" is being injected with a saltwater solution. The industry calls it a marinade to make the chicken moist, but consumer advocates claim shoppers are being deceived. Consumers do not know that when they purchase chicken labeled natural it can contain up to 15 percent saltwater. The injected chicken has up to eight times the salt of unaltered chicken.

Its going to be hard to find chicken that doesn't have some sodium / saltwater injected or coating it. I do sell sodium free breasts from time to time but even those birds were subject to steroids and hormones.

Smart Chicken. Not injected, not frozen. Can also get it as organic. More expensive. Much more flavor.

Try your local coleeges. Up her West Texas A&M has a meat-lab that sells to the public, like a butcher shop. The meat is awsome and competively priced.

the thing that gets me about saltwater injected is you are paying by the pound and paying for all that water and salt at the same rate you are paying for meat.

good beef I can find, it's just the water injected chicken, pork, etc. that I can't find. Every single ham in every store is injected with something.

Also check the local livestock shows. You get some good meat from that and help kids at the same time

I ran a meat market for brookshires 5 years ago and we sold smart chicken products but they did come in frozen sometimes. It was he best chicken I had ever eaten. But don`t over cook it or you are wasting your money. They also carrried pork that was not injected at all. You might try calling one of their stores and talking to the meat manager and see whay they carry today. But be prepared to pay more for both of them. You can still find the good stuff if you look around at different stores.

Try Country Meat Market. It's at Lancaster and 820. It's been a while since I have been thre but I liked the steaks I bought from there.

Kinda like buying a 6 oz. can of tuna. Press the water out and you have exactly 3 ounces of tuna.

I buy only tuna in oil, no need for mayo and it tastes better. They even have oil with peppers version, like that too.
