OK so you invite someone to go fishing with you in your boat, and they bring with them so much tackle that it take up three storage compartments. How much is to much ??? when do you say that's just to much sh## to bring ! Just looking for some input. Thanks guys

A couple of rods, and one bag of tackle. Most boat owners have enough extra gear that they could help someone out if they ran out of something.

I gotten to the point that if I invite someone to go, I tell them that I'll furnish all the rods/reels/gear. It's easier than trying to get them rigged up to fish the way I'm setup. It's been working real well. Had some trouble getting my sister in law to leave her light weight spinning rod with 10# test at home, but the first few times she broke off fish without getting near the boat she started listening.

I usually ask when I'm backseating, and usually it's my BIL's boat...
I usually bring 5 or so setups (bass fishing) and one or two trays of whatever lures we're planning on throwing most.
I can't borrow stuff as I use LH retrieve baitcasters. I have brought reels and used his rods though.

one portable bag that holds like 3 Plano 3700's should be enough...or a backpack...best rule is just to ask the owner of the boat BEFORE you go. Correct! Wisdom beyond his years.

I have yet to fish backseat, if I do, I would plan to bring my tacklebag, however it holds 8x3700 sized trays. That plus 3-5 rods. Would that be too much? (I'd put the tackle bag on the floor if I had to). I'm sure I could downsize, but I figure if I can keep it contained to one bag, even a large one, it's pretty accomodating. Not sure if/when I'll ever co-angle, but I don't want to seem rude if/when I ever do.

I had one guy that brought a duffle bag,a back pack, two shoulder bags, 8rods, 4 tackle boxes, and two bait buckets to a flats fishing invite. My Excursion held most of it nicely while we fished......LOL LOL LOL.

I have a tackle bag that holds 5 flat boxes and all my plastics on the side compartments. I usually bring 4-5 combinations when I fish backseat. In the tournaments I've fished, its been a little bit more than I actually need, but I would hesitate to take any more. I usually stuff it under my console and deal with less leg room so that its not in my boaters way.
