To avoid losing important sonar data, HDS Gen2 continues recording throughout the use of TrackBack to ensure valuable readings are not lost. Yes the Gen2 units are plug and play meaning they will work with the original HDS units hardware.
The original HDS units can not be updated to a Gen2. The Gen2 is a separate unit. The processor is different. The case and functionality is the same. The case is a little darker but everything functions the same on the gen2 as to the original HDS model.

Yes, I received a call from one of my distributors that I was in pricing violation. I can sell lower than MAP (manufacture advertise price) I simply can not advertise the lower price. They are cracking down on dealers advertising below MAP. I have worked with J.P. Greeson and others here on the forum to adjust rule number six for this reason.

Hoping you can help! Thanks. Unfortunately I do not take trades. Lowrance will offer product upgrades if the unit is needing repair and they can not repair the unit you can then upgrade. The software can be upgraded. You can not upgrade your gen1 to a gen2. It is the processor and structure map that is different in the gen2 than the gen1 which is not and upgrade for the gen1'.... Lowrance did not let anyone know about the new Gen2 units coming out until a few weeks ago. Keep in mind that gen2 units are plug and play so your gen1 hardware will work with the gen2 units. Wish Lowrance would have said something early on. Again they kept this underground until recently. David @ shut-up-and-fish
