We didn't get hammered but the hybrids and magnum's did! Had the pleasure to fish with Jimbo100 again. Let me tell you, the guy can fish. First stop out from the Red Barn and first drop, fish on. Second stop, noda. Third stop towards the dam was very good. Bunch of fat hybrids up to 22 inches and plenty of big sandies. Both kinds of fish caught either deadsticking or slow rolling swim baits. One of my baits was a Berkley Powerbait, 5" Swim Shad in shiner Chartr. Big bait, big fish. Lost lots of swim baits today because I was barely turning the reel handle. Moe's sassy also did well. All fish CPR'D. Pictures to follow.

Nice job guys. Mike I went to the wrong lake also. I got one striper about 14 inches at Texoma. The day was perfect for winding the boat up at 70 MPH though . I gave her a good running. About a 5 mile run. But thats how fishing goes. Great catch guys those are some good looking fish.

That's usually the case for me when winter fishing, either hammer em or get nada. Nice fish. This from James Allen on the 6OG site.... Something to consider The past two trips. We've been finding fish at one spot, running deep in the river channel. 65ft of water and the fish are 40ft down to the bottom. If you idle along in that area, you won't mark a single fish, not one. You have to kill the big motor and put bait down. Then, and only then will the fish come under the boat and you see them on the graph. Any boat passing by within 200 yards of you with their big motor on, will run those fish off. We saw it time and time again the this week. One day, there were 4 of us (boats) fishing about 100 yards apart. Another boat with 2 people in it were idling around looking for fish. As they would come close to the guide boats, the fish would clear off. When that boat idled far enough away, those fish would come swarming back, 30ft thick. He kept weaving in an out of our drifting boats, back and forth and in circles. He could see us catching fish and I know he was looking for them on his graph but he never saw them. He did it for a good 2 hours. It was so obvious that it was his motor that was spooking the fish. We were even timing our changing to fresh baits based on him going away from our boat. No sense putting on a fresh bait when he was coming your direction, because the fish were about to leave for a few minutes. I even timed one of my start over drifts with his passing, so we would both run the same water at the same time. Same guy, same spot, two days in a row. I've seen it time and time again. Not always but sometimes other boats will run fish off. There are times when I can tie up to another guide boat and do well and other times when me coming in on him, even with just my trolling motor on, will run off the fish that have been under him for an hour. These fish can be spooked very easily sometimes. That is the harm in heavy fishing pressure.

That's some good info right there, Steve. Just proves I'm not crazy! sometimes even dropping a compartment lid I've run em off, or it changes the way they look on the machine. But, I've seen just the opposite, too. Where the "OK fish call" brings em right up. Over on Lanier, I noticed they pound the bottom of the boat with broomsticks. Pretty sure those are seasonal things, but I think it just proves how unpredictable these fish can be. Yesterday we were on top of some good schools, and the bite was great, as expected. But we also had an excellent flurry of action on some bigger models when the graph was a wasteland. Not even bait. Haven't figured that out either, but it seems to happen pretty often.

Interest reading, Steve. Thanks! But I am guessing James meant when the birds are not working? Cuz Friday while fishing with the birds, one boat had their engine on the entire time and caught a few, at several different spots too. Fishing Texoma over the year, I see most of the boats dont even have trolling motors. That's usually the case for me when winter fishing, either hammer em or get nada. Nice fish.
