Yea I had to get over that fear and It made a nice difference, but then I started snapping 20lb mono leaders.Sent 2 korda method feeders flying our last outing by snapping 20lb big game.I'm trying 20lb pline cxx extra strong now. It is maybe a little thicker and test out about 3lbs stronger.

Thanks Bman,I will try a combination of the very small method balls and supplement the area with extra method with my wacker blaster. My son and I have had back to back to back to back blankfest at emma and the weeds are bad.I might try decker with him one day this week if there is any room out there. If no room maybe we can witness a fish being caught.

Try using a shock leader for long cast. I havent been using one lately and still pulling off some monster cast. I'll be glad to show anyone what I know about casting one at one of the events coming up.

I'm using the 20lb line as a shock leader for my power pro braid line. What pound shock leader are you using?

It's not a whip Rick , lol. You're putting too much wrist into it instead of letting the rod load up and do the work for you

I use a similar way of measuring, but I put the bank sticks at each end of my 12' rods, 4 yrds each lenght, because I don't like having to go so many times around the sticks! grin

The long distance casters use 12 to 15lb mainline (mono) with 50 lb shock leader- 5 1/2 oz sinker-on tricked out bait casters Some cast over 900 ft-
With the right gear on my best day I might have seen 450- lol- went back to fishin-

Those guys with the baitcasters pendulum cast they don't do the old aim with your chin overhead carp cast. You can do a pendulum cast with carp rods but it's not as successful cause the reel isn't at the very end of the butt and you can't stick your right hand really far up the rod. I only add about 20yards doing a pendulum. Of course I sacrifice huge amounts of accuracy.
As a rule though, the thinner your mainline the longer it will cast. If you put enough heavy line to get about 4-5 wraps around your spool you can muscle it all you want. I fond it's better to use a small 3' section of 30# fluoro from your lead to your mainline. It gives just enough snap and still let's you fully load up your rod
