Lake Benbrook and Lake Weatherford. You can catch all you want in the early morning hours at the Wall area of Weatherford. They move deep quickly after the sun comes up so be early. If you do not know where the wall is I will give directions.

Well good. Where is the "wall" and I work just north of Benbrook so give me a point there too. Might meet you out there to have someone to fish with if you want. So yellow bass like it after dark?

Yellow bass bite OK after dark but I do not fish after dark these days. Both lakes are unsafe.

The Wall is an old retaining wall. To get to the Weatherford wall take I20 to the Ranch House Road exit. Turn right (north) on Ranch House Road for 4 miles. After you cross the 4 way stop at Lake Drive continue for 1/2 mile to a little park on the left. Park. The wall extends from there towards the dam. Walk towards the dam and look for schooling fish. If you don't see them schooling cast as far as you can into the lake and retrieve slowly. Small shad are the bait of choice.

With Benbrook down as far as it is a boat would be my only recommendation. If the lake comes up this spring the yellow bass will be in the creeks.

honestly if you give it about two or three more weeks the sandbass will be in the creeks and you will get alot more meat from them...

It surprises me to know two public lakes are not safe after dark. What type of people are the threat? I actually want to provide fish for a study that either helps reduc yellow bass populations or makes them bigger. Personally I like the bigger idea better. A lot of yellow bass in any water system is hard on the forage base, I would rather feed bigger fish myself.

Benbrook and Weatherford got their yellow bass when water was pumped from East Texas. Before 2007 there were no yellow bass in Weatherford, and the white bass were much bigger. The yellow bass in Weatherford are stunted due to over population.

The threat to fishermen at Weatherford are the druggies. Parker County is still pretty rural and has lots of oak forests to hide meth labs. They have been a problem for at least 20 years. Fortunately they seem to go to bed about 3 AM and I have never been bothered in the early morning. The fish bite better then anyway.

As thenatural said, in a few weeks the yellow bass will be plentiful and easy to catch. They are a pain in the neck when one is fishing for Bluegill in the spring. Every cast gets a yellow bass. If you target the larger ones they are fun to catch on ultra light tackle. When I take a new fisherman fishing I let them catch yellow bass. The young people do not mind if the fish are small.
