If you are wanting to cast long range, fluorocarbon as a mainline would probably hurt your ranges because it isn't made for long distance casting.

You can't go wrong with 15lb berkley big game mono in terms of a cheap reliable mainline mono(I find that the 12lb variety has a bit too much stretch).

A lot of people use braid because of how much strength it has compared to the typical 12 or 15lb mainline in terms of durability when fishing in areas with sharp or rocky bottoms and/or snag-riddled swims.

Although powerpro 40-65lb braid is cheap and strong, it can lose its color pretty quickly soaking in the water(a dark colored sharpie can fix that).

Like Richard said, if you are looking to spend a little more on a quality braided mainline, I would have to also recommend the Suffix 832 in either the 40 or 50lb breaking strain.

Also if you wanna use a shock leader, I would highly recommend getting a spool of Berkley 30lb leader flurocarbon. I use a 4' section of this on all of my rods and it keeps my line pinned down, has incredible abrasion resistance and doesn't affect my casting.
