If you have a river that holds crappie, try to find a spot were there is a cliff where the water is at least 5ft deep or more and is a straight drop...tie a rope to the base of the tree, then tie it off to a stake and hang it over the cliff side. Then leave it for bout 2 weeks to let the fish get use to it. Provides great structure for crappie. At night, drop a green light down in the trees or put a halogen light on it...you talking a slab slaughter fest. The same can be done off boat docks and I have heard stories off it being done off the sides of boat houses that stay docked.
