This was back at the end of October, but better late than never and I had to brag a little! I made a last minute trip up to South Dakota to visit family and enjoy the pre-rut with my bow. Deer numbers overall were down quite a bit compared to years past, but I was going home happy either way… It’s a great to see family and enjoy the outdoors. After 8 straight days of morning and evening hunts this guy walked out and wanted to know what all that rattling was..

I saw him walk out the night before on top a hill 250 yards away and he kept walking away. Even on his birthday my grandfather wasn’t going to let me not sit on a stand on my last evening there.. Well, the deer I saw the evening was the first deer to show up that evening.. He walked out on the same hill and made that 250 yard right by my stand and he never knew what hit him. Deer hunters enjoy!

I took a picture off of some video camera footage I managed to get right before he walked back into the trees and finally laid down. I had to get at least a little footage for my story to hold up at deer camp… and this is how he’s going on the wall!

Here’s a camera phone picture of one that actually rubbed on the ladder stand I was sitting in

It was raining a couple of mornings and I set up shop inside an old abandoned farm house. I’m going to get one sitting out of here one day…
