We have 3 lakes on our ranch, all stocked back in the 50's, now my uncle and I are the only ones to fish them. I never caught a crappie until last month and I have caught over 150 since then. Last time we went out, I caught 67 fish in 9 hours of fishing time total......47 bass and the rest crappie.....only on crappie rigs smile Nothing giant but we caught some numbers!

Oh and I shot about a 90 lb beaver as well...

Yea, those bluegill are over 1 lbs usually. They fight harder than the small bass....lol This is outside of Canton, in Colfax.

Thanks man. Basically where the Neches river starts is on our property, we have natural springs and haven't been hit by the drought at all. Here are a few more from other trips.

looks fun right there, at that rate you might want to watch the fish population though

If you notice we are pulling out a ton of small ones. We are way over populated since no one fishes anymore. 3-5 lbs and up we throw back. Just been trying to knock out some of the little guys so we can get the giants 12+lbs that we used to have out there.

I didn't take it that way lol I'll try and get a picture up later of one of the big ones I caught a few years back. My uncle swears he has caught a 15 lb bass in the lake but I am still calling BS as he doesn't have a picture of it.

Yep! These are a tad bit bigger than ponds....like 10-12 surface acres each.

Here is a pic from a few years back. One of the bigger ones I've caught out there

Just got back from the ranch a few mins ago. Fish were a little slower this weekend, caught 25, about half bass, half crappie. Also a giant brim.

yep, that is awesome right there. If you need someone to show you how to catch and clean a catfish quick I can help you with that too. LOL. Takes about 30 seconds a fish. About as long as it took you to catch the next one and then the next and the one after that. LOL.

I really want to run a trot line out there and see what shows up. No one fishes for catfish so I bet there are some big ones.

That place is Heaven on Earth! Start throwing you a few handfuls of dog food in the same spot everytime you go out, in a few days you will be able to see how big the cats are when the come to see you at feeding time.

Hell, I was going to go bigger than that. At a friends ranch they have a deer feeder mounted on the dock that throws dog food twice a day. 30-40 cats swarm the area when that thing goes off. I've never seen anything like it in my life.

Went out yesterday for an hour in 40 degree pouring rain. Caught 11 crappie and 3 bass. As soon as the rain stopped the fish quit biting!!! Again this morning for an hour and caught 6 bass from the bank.

Heading out today for the first real fishing trip of the year.....I'm pumped, I haven't fished the crappie condos I sank earlier in the year and late last year so I'm excited to see how they work. I'll report back on Sunday with good news hopefully.

So do you stock this pond or does this feed from the river? Nice catches if you are not stocking it!

It was stocked back in the 50's, It has sustained itself since then with no additional stocking.
