This seems like a worthy cause, especially since so many of us bank fishermen rely on state parks for places to fish.

They don't get the money from license sales it goes in state general fund and has since 97 thanks to Anne Richards I believe.

Thats the problem.Whether it is the lottery or TPW,the guys in Austin take the money wherever they please instead of what it is supposed to be going for.

Another option to support the TPWD is to buy a 12 month pass....

Good cause.

From TPWD's Site
http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/business/licenses/online_sales/

Did you know that 100% of your hunting and fishing license fees go to conservation?

It's true,100% of your hunting and fishing license fees go to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for on-the-ground conservation efforts that help make Texas one of the best places in the country to hunt and fish. Fish stocking, wildlife management, habitat restoration, land conservation, and Texas Game Wardens are just some of the initiatives funded in part by your license fees. Thank you for your investment in Texas' natural resources. For more information on the types of licenses available, where you can purchase a license, hunting and fishing rules and regulations, and much more, explore the links on the left.

I'll give them my hard earned money when they start using their revenue in the manner it's supposed to be used.

It would be a worthy cause if the money was used as intended instead of going in the General Fund(AKA State Slush Fund)
I only buy the yearly pass because between camping and entrance fees to the parks, I save money and that goes back in my pocket.
TPWD needs to go take some lessons from Arkansas on running state parks. Entrance to their parks and use of the boat ramps is free, seniors get a discount on campsites, even those from out of state, and their parks system is funded by 1/8% of their sales tax. You only pay for concessions and campsites
