Which do you guys prefer for cats or other fish under 5 lbs that you plan to eat?
I use to always use A steel stringer but recently I caught my PB Channel Cat, I put him on the stringer with some other cats and about an hour later I check the stringer and my PB is gone. So I'm strictly using an ice chest now.

I might start with a stringer because I may release my catch if I don't get a whole mess.....
But when I am sure I am keeping them, ice chest every time.

This time of year it's live well. Summer months it's ice chest.

I like the ice chest. Keeps the fish real well and when you go to fillet the meat is firm and will cut better.

You forget an icechest one time, and you never get to live it down. The good news, is, its really hard to leave a live well at the lake.

But DCM forgets to get said fish out of the ice chest at home, leaves them there for 3 days, then has to clean your ice chest, so that worked out. it was nice and shiny when i got it back.

I carry a plastic tote.I used a large styrofoam cooler for years but I caught an 8 lb bass this year that turned my cooler into confetti.
