Headed down to Falcon after Christmas day.. Travel on the 26 and fish for a week. Most likely stay in Zapata at Best Western... How is the fishing around the public boat ramp in town? I have fished at area last year when the water was about 22 feet higher. I can cover about 3 to 5 miles each day, but most of the time I fish real slow and cover the small area real good.

Anyone have help I am all ears... Thanks

You should ask around on www.austinkayakfishing.com. There's some guys on that site that seem to hit it pretty often. Never had the pleasure myself. Someday though!

8 of us went down there a few weeks ago. You can read the report here: http://austinkayakfishing.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=7725

We stayed at Oso and we launched there several days and fished that water and everything to the right of the launch all the way to the bridge. We fished the Tiger one day and the state park one day. All locations held fish for me and most of my fish came on crankbaits.....others had luck on jigs.

Thanks Arai for the reports at Austin web page... Wow.... I stayed at Lake Side Lodge several years back and caught fish in the area you have posted, but did not catch the big fish you were catching... I will have to start throwing the jig more to the base of trees I guess... I kept looking for trees on the drop offs with no trees limbs showing at the water level.... Took a lot of time exploring to find the trees below the water line with the drop offs.

I will be fishing with my wife, so I have to fish a little different pattern with the extra person to watch out for. but she has her PB at Falcon with a 5.75 pounds... She wants to break her PB too, so I help her as much as I can.

Maybe I will see you there some day.... The post is a great help and I say THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

My personal best came from the Burro Arroyo last December when the water was up 22 feet higher. 9 Pound and 9 ounces. Some day I will catch the 10 plus out of a yak... I know I will.
