I see many reports about where fish are being caught and the locations are given in numbers on Belton Lake. Is there a map or some resource I can use to find these locations? Thanks for any help.

More then likely it is a number system designed by a guide and assigned to way points he has and the likelyhood of them giving up those locations is very slim

I see, but that kinda defeats the purpose of a forum. I have a quite a few waypoints marked also that are really productive. I wanted to know how those locations worked so I could match my points up and share them in the forum. I was just looking for some kind of common terminology so everyone could make good use of the information. If you have a good way of doing that let me know and I'm willing to share. I think it would add value the forum.

I have talked to guides that use some type of number system that they have developed and they told me that they did in years past write their reports and give the location they were fishing. Then when they went to these areas with a client they were unable to fish it because of the other fisherman already on the spot. As for myself, I also have a number system, however I try not to use it in reports that I write. I will instead give a general area or types of structure were the fish are being taken and leave the rest up to you. For example, I can tell you for the last couple of weeks on Belton, most of the fish I have caught have came off deep, main lake points. I understand what you’re saying and know what you’re looking for, but I can tell you without question, that no guide or most any other fisherman for that matter, is going to give up their hot spots.

If you want to match numbers to locations book a trip with Bob Maindelle. A really nice guy who is an excellant fisherman. I intend to book with him,I could learn alot. I would strongly recommend booking with Bob or one of the other guides.

I'll second that. I booked a trip on Stillhouse with Bob between Christmas and New Years last year for my 2 oldest grandsons. I went along as an "observer" and did not fish. I just watched his HDS-10 most of the time while my grandsons boated lots of white bass and a couple largemouths. Bob is great with kids.

I share your sense of mystification. It's hardly as though a private numerical code is necessary to avoid divulging "spots." Not sure there's any such thing as a "spot" for whites and hybrids anyway. That said, the guide in question posts a wealth of useful information, as opposed to nothing but pics of foolishly beaming clients.

One still has to catch fish even if the spot is known .
