This is my first year of boat ownership. Boat is currently stored outdoors, covered. I will probably want to use it once a month or so through the winter. Just wondering how best to maintain it now that we have these freezing temps. If it makes a difference it's a 20-foot bay boat with Yamaha 150 4 stroke.

Thanks,

Steve

As mild as our winters are I never winterize mine as I use it on some of them nicer days. Just remember to drain all the water out of the engine every time after loading it back on the trailer. You can do this just by trimming your motor all the way down until it gets through draining.

Just store the outboard motor in the down position to let water run out of the lower unit and if it freezes, it won't hurt anything.

Draining the water is #1. Ethanol attracts more water during cold weather. So a gas treatment is highly recommended. After each use, I fill up the boat to reduce that amount of air inside the gas tank. I also spray fogging oil into my carbs.
