Has anyone ever used one the larger 110v electric space heaters? I have a ceramic unit that does a good job on a 10x10 room, but I'm looking for something to heat a larger area. The one below is advertised to heat a 1,000 sq. feet.

Twin-Star International PowerHeat Infrared Quartz Heater — 5200 BTU, 1500 Watts,

Where are you at? I have one that heats great. I bought it and have it as an emegency backup for if my Cen Heat is out.

I'd be willing to lend it to you so you may see if it is something you would want.

I also know that Harbor Tool has a great fan/heater that will heat a large garage.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm in Oklahoma. The heater I posted the information about also interests me because it has a built in air purifier. The one I'm using now if a Lasco, and it works good. The problem is it doesn't have a filter, and if you don't keep your room dust-free, the circulating dust will play havoc with your allergies.

Ditto on the oil filled model.
I can turn my central heat OFF, and turn on the little oil filled model in my bedroom, using the 700 watt setting with the thermostat about 3/4 of the way up and it's just perfect. No sense in pulling 2000+ watts with the central unit just the heat the bedroom.

Just be super safe with the space heaters. Two house fires in our area have already been attributed to space heaters. People just don't think about bed linens or other fabrics catching fire due to being too close to the heaters.

That's for sure. For bedroom use, I wouldn't consider anything but a ceramic heater. Just be sure and follow the safety tips in the owner's manual.
