Ok so I'm finally taking the plunge and gonna do kayak fishing. I live in Austin and will fish town lake, lake Austin, and any of the surrounding. I wanna be able to stand up and yet have an easy paddler etc. with there being so many brands and lengths out there I really just don't know. I'm really liking the Jackson cuda. But have seen some features on other ones that are cool too. I also like the Jackson coosa as well. My gut says after I've watched videos, reviews etc, that the cuda is the way. Any help though?

I was worried about the storage on the Coosa until I visited one in person. I think the only advantage in the Cuda length would be the speed...but I am a newb like you and I'm sure someone may be able to answer that better than me. I will be ordering my Coosa in a couple of weeks.

I have done a ton of research on kayaks over the past couple of months and decided that the Coosa would fit my needs the best. The seat pretty much sold the kayak in my opinion.

Yeah the seat is a big seller for me. I think the cuda just looks so much more bad [censored] to me lol. That matters right? But it looks like for me it's coosa cuda or the wilderness ride 135

Go see Duane at TG Canoe and kayaks in San Marcos. He is right on the river and will let you try out both for free. He also has a wealth of knowledge to share.
I have the Coosa and it has a ton of room. A group of us fish the Colorado and camp for days out of our kayaks. I just ordered the Cuda and should pick mine up from Duane in a few weeks. Did I mention how comfortable the seat is. I also fly fish from them.

Yeah I've been talking to Duane through emails and he seems to think that the cuda is perfect for me. Just trying to get as much input as possible

Welcome to kayak fishing. I don't know much about the Cuda, but I have heard good things from the owners. If you ever get up to the north Texas area look one of us up. We would be happy to take you out on one of the local lakes around here.

Paddle all of them before you buy one. I just bought the new Ride 135 and its awesome but I wouldnt have decided to purchase it unless I paddled all the other boats I had my eyes on. I maid my own mind instead of someone trying to sell me a boat.

Yeah no doubt. I'm definitely looking at all the aspects aside from sales. Not sure what features I do and don't need. Etc. I mean I'd love to have a hobie p/a but at 150# and 3000 dollars I won't justify it. I'm thinking 13-14' range and trying to get as wide as possible be able to stand and also maneuver plus gotta think about seating and durability. That's my concerns.
