The
yellow bass,
white bass and
striped bass are all members of the
true bass family and can cross to form hybrids. The yellow/striped hybrid is called a
Paradise Bass. They were an experiment by TPWD in 1977, and were stocked in Gladewater City, McClellan, and Weatherford Lakes.
The more common cross is the
Palmetto Bass, which is a cross between a white and a striped. They are commonly just called a
hybrid and are stocked in many Texas lakes.
Crosses occur in nature as well as in the hatchery. I happen to hold the record for a yellow/white cross from Lake Benbrook.

If you want to find a
Paradise Bass you will have to fish in a lake with both
Yellow and
Striped Bass in good numbers. They will be mixed in with the
Palmetto (Hybrid) Bass and catching one will require a lot of luck. As the Princess was told:"You have to kiss a lot of frogs to find a prince."
