Got a last minute trip with Chris Carey today, left work ran home and met up with Jake and Brandon at Mill Creek
We head to the first stop looking for some birds to start, don't see much but start catching stripers right off, nothing big but steady and fun. Stay there for a while then move across the lake and ran into a maylee of good sized striper in 30 - 50 ft of water, some where busting top and finally the birds start working hard and we started catching the good ones. It was a circus for a while, at one point all four of us where hooked up and tangled up with each other. These big fish where mad and broke one of my reels. Can't tell you how it feels to hook up with an angry healthy striper but you don't want it to stop. We all caught a lot of fish, we all caught many overs. I didn't keep track maybe Chris will chime in with the count but it was a lot. Fishing is good at Texoma, get you a guide and get out there.

Chris

Yes we caught them on sassy and other soft baits but also slabs. Soft swim baits seem to work best, either tossed out let it go to the bottom, lift up reel let fall back or in deeper water count down 10-15 then slow reel back. I didn't see the graph but at times Chris would say that they are stacked from 15-35 feet.

Saw you out there Wednesday Chris. Was in my Key West dual console, not the one you mentioned with the black 225.

Great job guys. cheers From the look of the stripers I'd say the shad kill last winter didn't hurt them too much. Congratulations on a great trip. I wish they would move Texoma closer to the metro-mess. grin

The shad kill created a shad explosion this year.

The boat is plenty large. It is not the boat but the operator. Play it cool until you get some experience and stay off the lake when the weather is bad and you will do well.
