Badchade and I made the run to Waco this morning (Thursday). We arrived and set up and were fishing by 9:30. Fishing started out slow. We saw a few fish crashing out in front of us, including a buffalo that Chad said he would be comfortable calling it a 30 plus pound fish. We had a few short runs and some tentative bites that were probably buffalo.
Finally at 1:30 Chad broke the ice with this 5-6 pound fish.

He then followed up a short time later with this 8-9 pounder.

I finally got on the board at 2:30 with a fish that went 9 pounds 7 ounces. Followed by a smaller 5 to 6 pounder. I got another nice run and set the hook on a solid fish. The fish turned out to be a 17 pound 9 ounce buffalo.

The buff will be submitted as a Lake Brazos water body record. I know some of you guys have caught bigger buffs there, but since I had the scales and paperwork on hand I figured that I would submit this one.
Chad then hooked onto what we thought was a giant fish. He wrestled the beast in. As I was about to net the fish I saw that it was wrapped around a tree branch. The fish was only about a 6 pounder and pulled off at the net. We pulled in the branch and saw that it was at least 7 feet long and was very heavily waterlogged and heavy. We got a laugh out of his monster fish.
I finished off the day with a 9 pound 14 ounce common.

I lost an easily double digit carp along with the ones we landed. Overall total, Chad 4 on with 3 landed, and I had 5 on with 4 landed. We left at about 5pm. Had a really nice day of relaxing and catchin a few fish..
Almost forgot to add that Chad had made up some maize for the trip. He fixed up a batch of Scopex maize that was fantastic. That is what I had most of my fish on.. Really good stuff. Thanks Chad..
