That's a good idea about fencing off a portion.
How early can you get to the Irving pond? Their website mentioned 9am but I don't know if that means the pond also or just the center.

Man some of yall forgot about the sport an act like the fish should jump in your lap. Why not just stay home and watch a TV fishing show.

Try more natural baits. Use those computers and do some research and then maybe you might learn something and catch those Trout.

Just means more for me and my kids to catch if yall give up that easy.

Well, I have an idea for you Yukon. Go to City pond in Mesquite for a couple weekends and let us know how you do.
You remember that snow we had a few years ago? I was out in it catching trout.Limited that day. I have fished many ponds for the trout and done well, limiting more often than not. I don't expect them to jump in my lap but when hatchery trout are stocked for the express purpose of catching then I do expect to have better luck than I have had at City Pond which is zero.
Have you read this whole thread or are you just knee-jerking a reaction? Have you fished City pond in the last three years?

Irving pond has been great. I would pay more taxes to have times like this. My sister brought my Great Nephew out and as he walked up to me (first time to meet him) I had a trout on the line and handed him the pole and held it while he reeled it in.
He's only 3 year old. Pulled the fish in, took this picture, and baited and pitched the line back out. He picked up the pole and said "I wanna' nothern one" Just so happened, anothern one just got on the pole he was holding. Let him reel it in and I think I got "anothern" hooked on fishing.
He may not remember me as his Great Uncle, but I'd bet he remembers those first fish.
You meet the nicest people out fishin'

The snow a few yrs ago was 2-10-10 and i have a pic on catfishgods forum of the result of a night fishing in the that snow fall. We posted up at 3:30 pm on 2-10-10 and left the morning of 2-11-10 around 11am.

I live over by Gus T. and Oats in Mesquite, and take my kids fishing at city park, weather and mom permitting. An no im not a wknd warrior dad. My ol'lady and i have been together close to 19 yrs.

I read the whole thread and the impression i got was stated earlier. Check the net and i bet you figure out a way to get them to bite. Try natural baits, not the average store bought stuff. Also consider the forage that is in city pk lake. Its healthier than some/most people think.

I also take my kids to Westlake pk. But the algae control junk the use has near killed that little pond. Same with Palos Verdes. A city worker overdosed them both almost wiping them out of fish.

Are they still stocking Trout in Palos Verdes? I have not stopped by there in 2 yrs. A few of the home owners near it like to toss Bass,Crappie, and Cat fish in there regularly.

I bet I've dropped about 15 fish in there. Maybe I got a snake involved...or a real big frog. noidea
