No, there were no sales. Unless you count fresh dead shrimp at $3 a pound and it was going pretty quick since it was the only bait around. I was able to break free of the family while they shopped and make a quick run. My initial plan was to grab some live shrimp and drift some shell around San Antonio bay but that was quickly dashed due to wind, lack of bait, and the fact that my jackplate wasn't working. Diagnosis was a broken wire to the pump. I headed to the jetty instead which always seems to be my fall back plan. The water was nice and green but rough with wind coming in and tide going out. I managed a limit of slot reds and released probably three limits of sheephead with a couple puppy drum mixed in. All in all the fish were active and the sheeps seem to be congregating on the rocks. They should be there for the next few months. Technique was fresh dead shrimp with smallish Jhook on a 1 oz fish finder rig.

Do you fish the inside or outside of the jetties? Or at the end? Never fished jetties before. Thanks.

I prefer the inside near the end of the south jetty. Heading out the jetty, it would be on the right. I usually try to get as close to the end as conditions allow.

Hey A draper, I fish at Rockport quite often. I have wanted to go over to POC and fish for Tarpon at the jetties. Have you ever fished for Tarpon at POC. I am real interested in trying it this year. I understand the water temp must be of 70's like sometime in June.

I have seen tarpon at the jetty several times but have not been in the position to catch try for them and I havent specifically targeted them. I did briefly hook one a couple years ago in Matagorda bay while trout fishing. Heck of a fight for about four seconds. Lost him on the first jump.

I hooked into a tarpon just outside of the big jetties this october while fishing for bull reds. Got it up to the boat after about 20 minutes and it got off, heck of a fight though!
