Looking to buy one in the $200 range for my husband. It will be going on a kayak.

What kind do you use?
Would you recommend it?
Accurate?
Easy to install?
Did you have to buy any extra accessories not included?

Any help is appreciated. thumb

Can't he just follow you around? You seem to find the big ones just fine.

You will need a ram mount or Scotty Mount, normally thr Ram mount works best. This will be about 40.00

As for the fish finder go to Cabelas or Bass Pro and have them help, many many models and most are good. Several in the 100.00 range

Then you will need a 12 volt supply, Cabelas has a kit, that includes, charger and small battery for 29.00.

Great advice for your price range.

I Use an Eagle 350c. And I believe Cabela's has them on sale for close to 100 right now. Very good finder for the money and its color! I personally didnt need a ram mount for my kayak (sit in) but you could very well need one for yours. Also bought my battery from batteries plus with a 10%off coupon printed online. But that Cabelas kit for 29 sounds good. Although I didn't see that kit when I was looking for my fishfinder stuff.

I have the Humminbird 180 which has the widest coverage (90°)of any of the lower end units and cost $140.39 from Amazon with free shipping. Comes with a display unit, mounting hardware and the transducer.

The wider coverage will not show the bottom better but it does show fish on the sides of the boat and which side they are on. Most any Fish Finder will improve your fishing, as it lets you see how deep the water you are in is and find the right structure to fish (like flats and drop offs).

The only other items that you need will be a battery and charger. You can get the Humminbird 12 Volt 7 AH battery with charger also at Amazon for $35.16 also with free shipping.

Smaller batteries will work but this one is probably the best one for the project.

My Fish finder is mounted in a special scupper under the seat and is open to the water. However other people mount theirs other ways.
