This is one of my family's favorite recipes. My grandmother came up with this recipe years ago. I can remember eating this at her house back in the early 60's. Serve it over fresh baked biscuits.

Tomato Gravy

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
-------- ------------ --------------------------------
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup onion
1 cup flour -- use just enough to abbsorb all oil
1 teaspoon salt -- to taste
1 teaspoon pepper
1 can chopped tomatoes
1 dash tabasco sauce -- to taste
Sauté onions in oil.
Add flour cook until brown.
Add remaining ingredients.
Over low heat cook until thickened.

Are you sure on the flour? It's usually 50/50 on fat to flour ratio for gravy. Im not doubting grandmas recipe but that sounds like a ton.

Add the flour slowly and work it in until thickened. This is from her recipe that she quoted to me back in the late 70's and she was around 90 at the time . I still make this recipe to this day and it comes out great.
