By looking at your boat it would be easy to fish wire through it. Do it yourself and save money. If you don't feel comfortable doing it let me know and I can come over and help you. Do some research and you will see it is not hard at all.

Thanks MikeU. The boat has one already on it. It's a little one that came from the factory. Just wanted a real nice one for the new boat. If I can't figure it out I will let you know.

You picked a great unit. Probably the most features for the least money out there. I really wanted that one, but academy put their hds5 on sale a couple weeks ago. So I got the lowrance. You shouldn't have much trouble doing it yourself. I'll be doing mine after I officially get it at Christmas.

Most boat-owners find that correct, damage-free transducer installation is paramount to maximum transducer sonar optimization. After all, it is the heartbeat of your marine electronics. SternMate™ provides the tools and the "Rules" to do it correctly the first time.

Thanks, looks like the one on the boat already is in the right place. It came from Cabela's already rigged. I am sure they researched the correct place to mount it. Thanks for the info D*C*M*

I could be wrong, but I think the sonar/down scan combos only use 1 ducer.

Do a little research in the General Equip. section and that will go along way to mounting transducer. Manufacturers instructions are not perfect. I have mounted 2 now and I am getting good results with them. Let me know if you need a hand.

If you pay for install contact Ernie Doka.

Whether you do it yourself or have someone do it get a poly mounting board and do the mount that way, you will be glad you did later.

Transducer placement is the biggest key to getting the best picture with DI and SI.

I just installed the same unit in my boat a couple of weeks ago and it wasn't that bad to install on my own. Just read your instruction manual completly especially when you install the transducer it was confusing to me at first on the placement until I read it all the way through.

First off, Thank you for your service and public service. I mounted HB898 on my boat and it was not hard at all. There are many Youtube videos that will help greatly. MikeU is a sharp dude and will help you if you need it. Good luck and you can PM me if you have any questions should you do it on your own.
