As winter time is approaching what clothing do you prefer to keep warm in cold windy conditions?
Use this scenario:
Winds 20 mph ,no tent or bivy, not near the car for the heater ,no electricity.Just you, fishing gear and the elements.
Not a pleasant thought I know, but we should be prepared. So what are your warmest preferences?

Army surplus Gortex (pants and Jacket) from ebay- ECWCS- over long johns and sweetpants/sweatshirts and my Redhead boots with cpl thick ole socks... The goretex is pretty awesome. One day I will have some again. It was one of my favorite issue items. That, the field jacket liner, and the 3 layer sleeping bag

When I was in the army 91-93. We got the first goretex jackets made. They were nice. I sold mine for 150 when I got out in 93. A lot of money back then.

i wear a cabelas dry plus parka and bib for hunting. i usually wear a t-shirt and a sweater under the jacket and a pair of fleece sweats under the bib. 1 or 2 pairs of wool socks under my boots, i forget how many grams the boots are? a pair of mittens that fold back over my fingers, a full face mask and beanie. i stay warm. i wore that camping last year over new years when it was like 20 out everyday and it kept me warm for 5 straight days outdoors, day and night. wore it pretty much every time i went out last winter (every weekend and almost every day after work), never did i come home because i felt defeated by the cold.
sure wish i woulda found this thing while it was on sale for what it is now!!!
