Are they in a reservoir or creek?

Looks like fun as long as you dont stick your fingers in their mouth

Where all in Texas can they be caught at? Thinking about trying for some this year. Or closest spots to DFW. I know there are some around the Tishomingo area of OK. but would like to stay closer if possible.

Caddo used to be thick with pickerel but they seem to have all but disappeared. Daingerfield state park is known for it's pickerel population

state record came from Pat Mayse, they are in most East Texas lakes, you just have to fins them (which aint always easy) lake o the Pines a good population, so does Lone Star Lake, they've been caught in Sandlin infrequently...I know of a small pond the is loaded with them but the only way in is launching a canoe or kayak off the side of FM 250

Looking at making a Pickerel trip sometime in Jan/Feb. Willing to put someone on a few redfish and maybe some black drum down in the CC/Port A area. Trade a trip for a trip?

Pretty simple fly is the white/red seaducer. I tie it on a 60-degree jig and just watch them dart out of the grass at it. Anything else at Daingerfield can get caught up in the vegetation - especially lilly pads.
