Went out with dad and brother-in-law today. Water temps were much higher than I expected. Started the day at 57F. Unlike the previous couple times out the temps only climbed to about 59F by mid afternoon.
We saw plenty of bass feeding on bait, but had a tough time buttoning them up. Lot and lots of hard but short strikes today. More than I recall in a very long time. When they did hook up, wow they were feisty!
Caught most fish on various shades and hues of white spinner baits. Single blade or smaller sized spinners seemed to be the ticket. Also had several picked up on chatter baits in white and couple on dark blue. Only 1 on a trap.
Didn't spend too much time along the channel today, as there were too many boats working our key area from the past few outings. I assume they were working it because of not wanting to push up lake with the low water. So we decided to work a side creek that runs up the lake. Boated everything in less than 3.5ft of water.
Not a monster, but 3-3/4 lbs was nice enough. He had a couple this sized. I boated quite a few more, but none as nice.
