Do you guys bring along for bank fishing? I have 3. A topwater/jerkbait rod, a worm/jig rod, and a multi-purpose rod. My multi-purpose is a vendetta that i really can't find any dedicated use for.. Is this too much for bank fishing? What are ya'll setups?

Yeah tornado, lmb mostly. I enjoy catching whites and hybrids but find bass gear works for them too. Wow 6 to 10 rods is insane DCM. I could never imaging walking the banks with that many rods

I'm usually lmb fishing and have been carrying 2 rods but 3 or more would be better if I had better way to carry and keep up with them while I'm walking the bank and not have to lay them down in the dirt.

Most of my bank fishing is in ponds around my house ... quite a bit of walking as I will usually cover 2 or more ponds in an outing depending on how much time I have.
Any more than two is just too much trouble for me and "my way". Most days I just carry one, but occasionally I will sport a "bassin' rig" and an ultralight for targeting bream/crappie.

I just use 1 rod with a swivel clip at the end. That way you can change out lures and setup real quick.

Just 2. 1 short ultralight, and a 7' medium action. Those two will catch me just about anything.

There is a guy who regularly fishes the ponds near me who has built himself a rod holder/carrier he carries around. Must hold 5 or 6 rigs. His is made of wood, but this is the closest thing I could find to what he has made. http://www.amazon.com/Taco-Metals-Poly-R...7382&sr=1-6

I only bring 2:
1. Bass Setup - Medium Action 7.5' Castaway w/ Shimano Curado Bantam (40 lb Flouro-Braid) 2. Catfish or Rough Fish Setup - Heavy Action 7' Castaway w/ Abu Garcia Black Max (60 lb Braid)
I try to travel as light as possible.
However, I do keep 2 extra reels in my tacklebox: 2 - H20 Mettles (1 with 10 lb flourocarbon, 1 with 50 lb braid).

All great stuff. Mattg i also have a backpack taklebag. Allows me to carry much more gear. I brought this up because majority of my fishing is done in local ponds. Not a big deal when i can still see my car. But this year i really want to hit up the creeks and local lakes hard and would rather not have to carry so many rods.

I also realize a decent spinning rig is prob better suited for creek fishing. No need to bring out the casting reels.

For stripers and hybrids I bring just one. That is all I need, but leave one in the car just in case the other one fail.

I always carry 2 and sometimes 3. If I carry a 3rd rig it is when I bring a topwater rig along. I always carry one rig for plastics and one for cranks.
All my tackle is in my light weight backpack.

I use three (reference the sig) for my bank fishing. Generally I target carp or buffalo. I have alarms on my rod pod so I can fish 24/7 and still catch some Zzzzs. Longest I've ever continuously fished was 60 hours.

I am startin to change it up a little. Usually when I went I would carry ALL of my gear. That would include: Tacklebox, bucket, castnet, (if at night)2lanterns inside the bucket, and depending on how many I had at the time atleast 5 poles. Now, I have a backpack, bring bucket but usually leave in vehicle, about 2-3poles. I have also made a handy fishing buggy that I use for the long walks. I am in the process of fixing up a bicycle to pull the buggy with; I plan on making the buggy into a trailer.

Just 2. 1 short ultralight, and a 7' medium action. Those two will catch me just about anything. I agree. Anything more is just a bother. And in community ponds and lakes and state parks under community lake rules two rods are all that is legal. Even when catfishing two are all that I want.

For bank fishing.... depending on what i'm targeting and the location, I have 3 setups but only take 2 max. for lightweight finess lures. less than 1/2 oz (7'5 NRX/Steez) topwater/crankbait/swimbait less 1oz (8ft tele custom caster/ Zillion) and if the fishies are far out of reach and i need to cast a lure super far.....3/4 - 2oz swimbaits/topwater (10ft custom caster/ Zillion TypeR) These 3 combos give me the best chances for catching.

I usually bring 2 but have thought about more. TACO makes this which I think someone already posted the link for: http://www.basspro.com/TACO-Rod-Tote-Em-Rack/product/36941/79370There is also this: http://www.basspro.com/Rod-Tote™/product/7558/99271 The TACO looks like it would be better for keeping your gear out of the dirt and sand. My .02.

It depends. If I'm fishing a body of water I'm familiar with and/or if I'm fishing one specific style (UL, M, or MH), I'll bring 2 rods. If I'm fishing a brand new body of water and/or don't know what will be biting, I'm bringing at least 4 rods. I normally fish for bream and/or bass so I have a lot of UL - MH weight rigs. I break 'em all down into 2 categories: "Feel" rods and "Give" rods. When I'm working jigs or some other lure I have to feel the strike, I use that is primarily or all graphite. Topwaters, cranks, spinnerbaits and other lures that I like to have a slower reaction for, I go to rods that have some glass.
When fishing for bream I bring 1 of each in UL. Fishing for bass, 1 of each in ML - MH. If I don't know the water and/or whats biting, AT LEAST 4 rods. Been too many times when the last stick/technique was the right one.
