The Cherrywood by Berkley is a "not to terrible" rod.....I like them for the kids and family members whom I DO NOT trust with my better rods. For 10 bucks....you cant lose. They are on sale till Wednesday....AND, you can order them online, which I highly suggest, as you may waste a trip / gas, only to find the exact one you wanted sold out. Save the gas, let them ship it.

Cheers....and be well.

The 7 ft med. is great for small to med. size crankbaits. It just seems to have the correct amount of forgiveness. The performance cant be beat for the price.

Academy also has the tournament choice rods for about $5. Anyone ever use these. I saw green and black ones. No yellow. I heard a while back the yellow ones were halfway decent

PLEASE.....DO NOT BUY A CHERRYWOOD ROD.....not untill you do research on it. I made a bad mistake and Im sorry. Cherrwoods are JUNK. PLease....do not waste your money on them like I have done, unless its your choice to do so.

I no longer , in any way, support any notion that a Cherrywood rod is worth owning.

Just my "now" experienced, suggestion. For the low buck rod, try a BPS IM6 rod.

Agreed! That thing will snap in half if you set the hook on a good fish. I disagree about the bang for buck rod "Ugly stic" is the best buy for most fishing.

Depends on what you're using the rod for. I would not use a cherrywood for bass fishing, but that is just me. I'm sure there are plenty of guys who use this exact rod for crappie and other pan fish and they have no problems at all. Heck. One of those guys catches and posts more pics of fish on this forum than i've ever seen. But for $10 bucks can one really say its a bad buy?

I agree. They fit the bill for what I use them for and have for many years.I have seen pros who use them just for crankbaits as well. The cherrywood is not a carolina rig or flippin stick kind of rod.

Never tried the Berkley Cherrywoods. Acadamey's Tournament Choice line is my choice of cheap in price rods. I love the 7ft 6in ones for my live bait fishing.

Cherrywoods are good shallow crank rods and that's it but for the price they can not be beat! You guys saying they are trash and an ugly stick is better are crazy. The 6'6" med is a good rod the 7' on the other hand isn't sort it the tip is too easily broke. I usually keep 2 cherrywoods around just because they are in expensive and work great for shallow cranking.

I have been using the 7 ft single piece spinning rods for the past 5 years fishing for crappie. Broke a few, but Academy replaced them for N/C. The rods are excellent for what I use them for. Have owned expensive $60 plus rods, but no longer spend money on these when I can buy a Cherywood for under $20 every day and on sale for under $10. I have 16 of these rods and still buy more when on sale. Typically when I find something I like they discontinue making them, that is why I have so many. At 60 yrs. of age, I have enough to last me a life time and my son will enjoy them after I am gone.

They are made for a price point purchase! Not a bad deal for the money! Mine has lasted 2 years of Crappie Wars and 2-4LB BASS! Not sure about Big Bass?

If you have ever built a Rod you have to ask how they can be made with a Reel Seat, Handle, all the guides (Although Cheap)put on a boat and Shipped from China, hauled from the port to a warehouse and then hauled to the Store and still sold for 10 bucks.

I've never built a rod but I wonder the same thing.

I wonder that about a lot of things ... not just rods.

There is one company in HK I buy electronic "junk" from (cables, iphone accessories, etc) ... they offer free shipping on everything, every order, no minimum. I have literally had orders from them of less than $1 and they ship it free from HK. How can anyone make a profit on that???

Cherrywood rods are not worth my money and frustration. I've broken tips of of those rods setting the hook on sunfish. If the bend in one of those rods is acute, it's only a matter of time!

I just broke my Berkeley 6.5 ft. spinning rod (a little higher end than the cherrywood) and after doing some online research decided the best value replacement rod was the BPS IM7 rod that is now on sale for $29. Should arrive at the Grapevine Bass Pro Shops any day now for pickup.

I like the Cherrywood for normal everyday fishing. They have a nice graphite feel, and will hold up well if treated properly. I have no problem with them for Crappie and Sandbass fishing.

All rods can be broken and most will hold up well if taken care of.

I would say there is no better rod on the market for $10. Will they compare with a $50-$100 rod. Of course not. But most of us don't fish enough to justify spending that amount for a rod.

I have had a 6'6 med heavy Cherrywood spinning rod for at least 6 years and I have caught an uncountable amount of fish on it including some absolute toads...I'm not sure if the quality of the rod has changed, but mine is a tank

Lesseeeeee......One time I bought one uhh them rods and ALL THE GUIDES fell off when I strung it up!

Then the cork handle crumbled as I gently picked it up!

Next, all the fiber in the rod CAME UNWOUND and wrapped around my legs, causing me to fall and break my arm, missing 3 weeks of work. Down to thuh Shady Palms Trailer Park! bouncy breakdance bouncy

It's a loss leader item. Gets you in the door where you might pick up other items with actual profits for the store. Happens all the time.
