I’m about to start up the party boat drift trips again. Looks like we will be putting in at Pebble Beach. The lake is too low to use any of the docks but I can push the bow up on the beach and I have a step for easy loading.
Price is still just $45.00. This is a 4 hour trip. I will have fresh shad for bait. Bring your own poles or use mine.

Correction…..make that Little Ridge. Thanks Bad Habit.
We will be using the ramp at Little ridge. East side of the lake, next to the power plant.

I would def. Be intrested. But it would be my wifes first time fishing and I also have a disabled son. As you do, I want to show them a good time. And I like to idea of the party boat for my kids cause of te extra room for movement. Do you have an age limit for youngans on your boat?

You are on the right track. Larry has a bathroom on his boat a real plus when my wife goes. His boat is large and roomy and safe. I have been out with him with kids on board and they had a blast. He likes kids. Just ask his grandkids.

That's what I figured, but I have a 4year old, a 3 year old, and a 2year old. My 3 year old is disabled with a form of crebral palsey called spastic diplesia. He's my concern. I don't need him tripping and falling off board.

No age limits. It is best if you bring your own life jackets for the children. They will need to be worn at all times.

Best Deal on Lavon
$45.00 Fall & Winter Time Catfish Deal

The weather may be cool but the fishing is HOT!!!!!!
I’m offering ½ day drift trips for $45.00 per person on Lake Lavon. Lavon is one of the best catfish lakes in Texas. You can book 6 seats and bring your friends or come by yourself and meet some new friends. I’m on a mission to break the lake record and the best way to get it done is to spend more time with more hooks in the water. I will take up to six people at a time in the comfort of a 21’ pontoon. We can drift with up to 18 lines in the water.

We will dock at Little Ridge Park. Bring your own tackle or use mine. I will furnish bait (fresh shad). We will leave the dock at 8:00AM and return at 12:00PM. We leave again at 1:00PM and return at 5:00PM. What you catch, you keep. I ask that you take pictures of any fish over 10 lbs and return it to be caught again when it’s bigger still. You can bring a small cooler for your drinks and snacks. Have a large cooler in the car to take your fish home in.

It may be the "cheapest Deal" , but far from the best deal....

Tex is the Man on Lavon and is highly regarged as the best....

what is highly regarged? could someone be lowly regarged? or if it's your first time would you be just garged?

James, I only know one time you were on my boat and that was as my guest for an out of season drift trip. That was the day you lost one of my poles overboard. You said I guess I owe you a new rod and reel and I told you not to worry about it. Just want to make it clear that between you and me, I’m the only one that has lost any money.
For those of you that want to fish with Tex, his # is 817-988-5468. He will give you a great trip.
With the drought, Lavon is shrinking but I would think there is still room enough for all of us.
I want to wish the best of luck to everyone on the lake. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I also want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and may God bless us all in the New Year.

I went on a Capt.Larry's fishing trip last fall. Caught fish had a good time and just been waiting for him to start up again. And jjason I don't think any one could complain about the money, I know I couldn't load up my boat and and go any cheeper.

OUCH!!! bang I'll bet he still owes you one. I'll never figure out how someone can stomp on a guides add with a recommendation for another. I've met Doug but never met the Capt, while I can't speak for Doug, I don't think Doug would approve of this because he's a class act, and from what I've read about the Capt he certainly seems to be as well. I'll never understand how people can do some of the things they do. noidea

jjason.....don't know you from Adam and don't care if I ever do but you are a sorry individual for what you just did. you may have a problem with Larry but you should keep it to yourself, like a man, and not vent in public like a 14 year old girl! Larry is a good man doing fair and honest business.....I do not see how that would be a knock against Tex, we all know he is very good at what he does, but so is Capt.

I have met them both, for different reasons, and each man gave me more than I paid for to make me a better catfisherman.
They seem to love the sport of catching big catfish and were both very generous in sharing some of what they learned to help me.
Both are guys that I could spend some time with and not want to jump in the lake and swim to shore.

BOTH of these guys are good for the sport we love and made me better than I was.

I guess I'm feeding the fire also but I'm betting that you both wish this stuff never came up.

Thank You Larry and Thank you Tex.

I want to give Larry a shout out. I had never fished for blues before and took a trip with him last fall. He was a lot of fun to fish with and took the time to show me some things and give me tips. As a result of this I caught several hundred pounds of blues last winter drifting with bests of 33# and 39#. He was kind enough to later take my signature picture with a 17 pounder which was my pb at the time. Tex stopped by and introduced himself while I was drifting. I would love to take a shallow water trip with him, because I have no doubt that he could teach me a lot about that. A trip with Tex would cost me double if my wife found out about it. Just saying the $45 trip with Capt. Larry was a great investment.

i will stand up for Larry, I know he is a good christian man who helps alot of people. NO ONE has the right to hi-jack a man's add to promote his small business and slander him...no matter who that person might be! Common sense is a GREAT TOOL!

good lord some folks are just sensitive. Big reason I rarely post on here. BTW.. I did not bash him . He said best deal on Lavon and I did not agree. But you are right ,

I should not have metioned another guides service on anothers add. I removed the post for that reason. Plus I dont care enough for the drama.

Kieth , I have no small buisness... and not agreeing with ones opinion is not considered slander.

I went on a sandie trip with Capt Larry and had a blast. We started out slow but he worked hard until we got our limits. Never been on a catfish trip with him but based on my experience I will be hitting the water with him this winter. I think the Capt even has gills.

I think all this [censored] should be erased except the Capt post. Both are good captains and both will do there best. That is all that needs to be said.

I agree but if you post in an open forum instead of the classifieds, in which this thread should be, you will get opinions on what you post. All advertisements should be in the right place.

From my experience, business is always better when controversy is to be had...so, if I were a guessing man, Capt. will book a few more trips based on this post. thumb

Good luck guys.

I caught one of my PB on CPT's Guides last winter, so did another group that went out with us. I would also like to thank Larry. Expect a call from me this winter again. Thanks
PS. my signature has a pic from that days trip.

I went on a trip with Capt. before and it was a blast. The price is nice and the fishing was fun. Plus Capt taught me how to use a baitcaster!! He cleaned the fish and bagged the meat for us and everything laugh I'll vouch for his services any day.

Just want to say I have been on several trips with capt Larry and enjoyed the company and service and we also caught some nice fish. As well..i learned some valuble insights from the capt.Everthing from techniques to lavons patterns. I owe my PB on Lavon from things ive learned from Capt Larry. Several people aboard during our trips caught PB. A young boy also caught his first keeper blue and brought a nice stringer back to his family. He was all smiles! I appreciate Capt Larry's knowledge and first class approach. Fishing is a sport for everyone to enjoy....and Lavon has plenty of room for everyone. Everyone on the forum knows Tex and Capt Larry are both great fisherman. If you choose to hire one of these fine guides you will have a great expierence.......but remember it is fishing.
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and everyone catches some huge fish this winter!

I haven't been on this forum in a long time, but thought I'd check in just to see how Capt Larry was doing... Now I remember the reason I quit spending time here...

Not only do I run several forums of various types, I have fished with many many guides across this country from The Keys to the Northwest, and never... let me emphasize NEVER have I enjoyed myself more than spending the morning chasing blues with Larry Lawley! He bends over backwards to make sure you have the best time of your life, teaches you how to go get 'em yourself, and keeps you smiling the entire time.

...and in case you don't believe you have a great chance of getting into big ol' blues, here are a couple he put me on.

Might I recommend before you disrespect a guide, you spend a year in his shoes... but even more so in this case, learn to detect the bite of a big blue, and set the hook properly.

Give 'em hell, Larry!

..ps... Are you guys complaining about this thread being here, as opposed to the classifieds doing the same thing to all the guides on the bass forum? Nah, didn't think so.

Nobody is really complaining, it's just the fact that he advertised "the best deal on lavon" and being on an open forum that was questioned. Capt. Larry provides a much needed affordable charter service. He just needs to watch how he phrases things or he will get picked on just like the rest of us on here!! It is to be expected!!

I will say one more thing then I am done with this.It amazes me how people do not read the posts there was never anything in my post that attacked Larry's character,I also said I enjoyed the couple times I was on his boat. But he did say he was the BEST DEAL ON LAVON. The very true thing is Larry offers a very cheap service some cannot afford to hire a guided trip.instead of saying he is the best deal on Lavon it should have been cheapest or most affordable there are several guides on Lavon that offer services that are more expensive and do an awesome job of teaching anyone who knows anything about fishing do realize this.IMHO this add belongs in the trading post as it is selling a service.Post it there and no one will give you feed back unless you ask for it this part is a DISCUSSION FORUM I thought I am done now just wanted to say that

I have to dissagree, I think that the "Catfish Guides" should advertize in the catfishing section of the forum, people come here to talk catfishing,

I am not going to get into the other part of this, they both offer a service, one is easy on the pocket book, and the other is long on teaching, I think they both have a place here, and help a lot of people out!!!

Good Luck to Ya!!!

There are other guides that post on here very regular and no one has a problem with it. Seems funny that this went so south. Every person except one that has been on his boat seems to have nothing but praise. I don't know Larry but I didn't find anything wrong or offensive in his post. Good luck this winter Capt.

I have to thank who ever reported this thread to the moderators. If it wasn't reported, then I would have totally missed my chance at catching a big blue!!!!!! I'll be booking a trip pretty soon, Capt! I haven't/won't put my boat in any of these lakes till they get up a bunch and haven't been fishing in almost a month!

No offense intended, but I noticed 5 advertisements in your sig.for good products and services. What up with that? And they show up every time you post. You post great information and share your knowledge. I truly enjoy your posts. But if you believe all advertisements belong in the trading post.......

let me clarify something. i personally have nothing against catfish guides posting adds on here, this is where the interest is. they are all great guys but when a topic goes south like this one has with comments that are out of line IMO and the guide brings up history like he did in post 18 or 19 without telling both sides of the story i believe it should have been locked and started over. as i said if you post in an open forum you stand a good chance of hearing someone elses opinion whether you want it or not. No disrespect to anyone here but this thread should be deleted and re-written if people don't like the comments. I have no problem with guides posting here as we are their target audience but.... the "best deal on Lavon" should be taken down out of respect to the other guides on Lavon. If it's a customer stating that it's one thing, if it's the owner it's another.

If I were to get on a Paintless Dent Repair forum and state that I was the best deal then I would know that it would ruffle some feathers. Even though I may truely feel that way, I have never done that out of sheer respect for the other techs.

Everybody has their own opinions of who is the best and I'm not gonna take sides on that as I have never fished Lavon. Just think it should be said by the customer and not the owner on an open forum 2cents

helpsign Lock it down and start over

I don’t know why anyone would begrudge an old man from trying to pay his own way in the world by taking a few people fishing. I have never clamed to be the best fisherman on the lake or know all the tricks. Most every thing I know I learned from someone else. I have had some fantastic anglers on my boat. Every trip is a learning experience for me. I have found that if I pay attention I can probable learn SOMETHING from ANYONE.

I do enjoy fishing but I’d rather see a kid, or anyone hang the biggest fish they have ever caught. When that fish breaks the surface the first time and everyone on the boat begins to scream…..that is when I get my best rush. I did say I had the best deal on Lavon. Sorry if that offended anyone. I will raise prices to $50.00. Now I no longer have the best deal on Lavon. Thanks everyone for your input.
