One good spot used to be at South D&D where I hooked on to a big cat that would not budge. Another which was my secret honeyhole located next door to the Texaco which is next door to the Trading Post Store. It has at least 60' to 80' water right straight down off the bank with a little ledge to the right that is probably 20' deep. Once i dropped a limb line there with a hand sized bluegill attached by a 6/0 Eagle Claw, next day I pulled out an empty partially straightened out hook. Called myself being smart by rigging it out with some bungee cord I got from a bulk spool(so a big fish would have something to pull against and maybe not straighten the hook), but when I went to throw the line out things did not go well because the boulder I was standing on was wet and it slopes toward the water. Hope you are getting the picture and I thought that cord was a lot stronger although I was actually reaching for the old salt cedar that stuck out which is where I had tied the line. By the time I got out of the lake I figured out that cord had a little too much stretch for a 200 pounder, it popped like it was 6lb test.
Never got the big one there but I did get a 20lb Yellow on a
R&R. Some other spots good from the bank are the State Park by Caddo, Sandy Beach by the boat ramp and below the dam.
