I've heard you can a villages, but it has about a foot or so narrow path out. The fishing resort at ledbetter (southwest- at first bridge on 155)is steep but big boats has been making in and out. Shallow at ramp and proceed straight out and stay to the right. The water is still going down and these ramps might not be accessible in another two weeks!

from what i have heard, and its just heresay, the dam ramp is open but with a heck of a big drop off at the end. now I understand the palestine marina launch is useable, but navagating out of there to anywhere else on the lake is dubious. Villages is a useable ramp, but the outlet is now so narrow I would hesitate to run a boat out there, know of a few who have wound up pushing off the bar at the enterance, which now looks to extend almost 7/8 of the way across the mouth

Bump..
If anybody has an update on Palestine ramps (particularly the dam ramp) please PM me. I know we have had about 3 inches of rain, just wondering if the ramps are more "user friendly". Athens Bass Club has a tourney there this weekend and need some info. Thanks!

At the Villages, drive out to the point. You can see were you need to go from above before you are water level in the boat. At the Dam, it looks like you have to use the small one on the left to avoid the drop-off.

Update---the villages ramp is usable, just stay in the middle. It is steep, so be sure you have 4 wheel drive or a few buddies to jump in the back of the truck when you're pulling out if the ramp is wet :-).
Yesterday a few members from the Athens Bass Club went out and marked the sand bars leaving villages with PVC reflectors. When leaving villages, trim up or use TM and stay to the right of the reflectors.
The lake is still very low and very dangerous. Stumps and bottles\jugs marking stumps everywhere. Anywhere you thought was safe to run, think again and be cautious. I hit two today south of the 155 bridge in 30 feet of water on the east side. Luckily I was only going about 25mph and didn't rip off my lower unit. I tried my best to go back and mark both with Dr pepper bottles but was unable to relocate either of them.
Fishing was tough today. Athens Bass Club had our monthly tourney today. I got 7 bites and boated 5 short blacks on main lake chunk rock with a football jig. You name it, i probably tried it today, or at least ruled it out. But I came up short with a big fat goose egg. At least i can say i made it off that frikin lake with my lower unit still in tact. WOOT!
Athens Bass Club had 9 paid entries, 11lbs won and 4 guys zero'ed. Including me, lol.
