I know you get what you pay for, but I can't always afford the best of everyting. I was wondering if anyone uses the BPS Johnny Morris Signature Series 2 rods. I picked up a 7' 6" heavy xf yesterday and it feels and looks good. Light in the hands. Just want to know how it fishes if anybody has any input.

the upper end bass pro sticks (pro qualifier, carbonlite, Johnny Morris) are very decent for their price.
I'm not saying that rod will compete with $300 sticks, but it holds its own quite well at its price.
I'm not a fan of the guides though. Blank is top notch (at pricepoint) though.
I've tried a lot of more expensive sticks, but the BPS Carbonlite (w/ microguides), shimano crucial, falcon lowrider xg/bucoo, all serve my fishing needs just fine.
While you do "get what you pay for", the returns for price start to drop off as you go above $150 or so IMO.

Falcon makes an hd series of rods. They are 69 dollars at academy. I have one I use for spinnerbaits and small senkos and I love it. Give them a try.

Well if you spent that much for JM signature go with Falcon Bucoos or even Dobyns Savvys both are great rods in the 100 to 150 range. I have a few Pro Qualifier I still use and they have held up real good and a decent rod also.

So true! I fish a FENWICK LUNKER STICK bought in 1972 and a SKYLINE GRAPHITE bought in 1984. They have never let me down. I have DOZENS of newer, more expensive rods but my FAVORITES have already been mentioned!

crucial are the best middle of the line rods. For basic everyday rods, can't beat an allstar.

I bought some Cherrywoods from Academy recently for family members to use. JUNK. I highly suggest you look at other rods than those.
I have been using a IM-6 rod from BPS now for about 5 yrs or so. Its a light weight spinning rod for casting softies to trout under the lights at night. I love it. trout to 6 lbs are easy to handle on 8-12lb test. Light 1/8 and 1/16 jig heads cast easily on light line when I use an invisible float. I need to go buy a few more of them.
I just today got a few casting versions of the BPS rod for my Abu 4600's. Im really gonna give them a wringing out here soon. Ill post more on them later. Im going to try and get a video of the rod in action....if any of you care for that.
