So I live out in the Weatherford Area and looking for some good places to do some fishing that are more local than the Ft Worth / Dallas area. I know about Weatherford Lake and Sunshine Lake but wondering if anyone had other places they have gone to or know of that are good to check out. I'd appreciate any info you guys can hook me up with. Looking to just drop a line in my downtime without the 30min to hour drive to do it lol

Check out Mineral Wells State Park. Pretty nice little lake in there.

Is the Brazos river or Possum Kingdom too far?
They both have potential.

P-K had potential for big fish, but the kill offs over the past several years, have dented that place a little, still some biggies but not as many as there used to be,,,,Carp and Buffs Mineral well is nice,,,there was a 40 pound plus Big head found dead there, where it came from is beyond me?????

Cartwright park has several deformed fish mostly 6-8 pounds...

Lake Weatherford has a nice variety, fish down by the Dam...or at the boat house,,,,don't expect anything massive...

Around here there really are no GREAT places that are consistent...now if you want to drive an hour and a half or so, that's a different story....

Ah well looks like it's I'll just have to make some drive time to catch some fun stuff. Just though I'd see if there was anything more local that I could get in to when I wasnt feeling like driving that day. Thanks for all the info I appreciate it

Been to BenBrook and caught a few smaller but very feisty little guys there. Water was extremely low though but still a good time. Never thought about Granbury though. Should have but it just never crossed my mind for some reason. Any particular spots at either place that are nice and active?
