A male wolf spider, in the family Lycosidae. Harmless.

Thanks for the ID everyone ... it seems harmless enough, just a big son. Seems like a good spider to have around to kick other bugs rears.

This says they are not deadly but they are not harmless either???

Wolf Spiders ...venomous - non-aggressive

Venom toxicity - the bite of the Wolf Spider is poisonous but not lethal. Although non-aggressive, they bite freely if provoked and should be considered dangerous to humans. The bite may be very painful. First aid and medical attention should be sought as soon as possible, particularly as to children or the elderly. Spider Identification - an adult is 1/2 inch to more than 1 inch in body length - mottled gray to brown in color, with a distinct Union Jack impression on its back. The female carries it's young on its back. Habitat - this spider is a ground dweller, with a burrow retreat. It has a roving nocturnal lifestyle to hunt their prey and can move very rapidly when disturbed. Commonly found around the home, in garden areas with a silk lined burrow, sometimes with a lid or covered by leaf litter or grass woven with silk as a little fence around the rim of the burrow.

I would rather leave a harmless animal alone and will with this spider that likes my garage. But if the boss is too creeped out I will catch it and move it.

TG,

Interesting that you say it is a male, it is huge hate to see the female. I noticed the first day I saw it I opened the garage door and pushed outside. It came back that night and hung out in the exact same place. I noticed the next day an egg sack under the base board coming into the garage where it hangs out. I guess the males protect the eggs.

You probably saw an egg sac from something else. Female wolf spiders carry the egg sac around attached to the back of their abdomen.

You can tell the photo is a male because of the enlarged pedipalpi. Those look like a small front pair of legs. They are unspecialized in females, but they are bulbous and used for mating in males. They can be very complex structures, and the male uses them like a turkey baster to mate with the female. Very useful for identification to genus or species.
