I have always heard that carp disappear during the winter months when the water is cold. True ? or do they just quit feeding ? Do they head for deep water ? a novice carper

They still bite during winter.Sometimes the bite is good and others you can blank.Just depends on the conditions, baits, swim, and if they are in a feeding mood at the time. It's just slower most times as it is during the hottest time of summer. However the buffalo tend to bite better during winter.

Agree with the above comments. It is slower but the fish tend to weigh more.
